Vera Wang too tame for SA bride
According to Times Live Mamodupi Mohlala snubbed a Vera Wang wedding gown – choosing instead to walk down the aisle in a dress she found in Rosebank. While many women around the world can only dream of wearing a dress by the highly sought-after international designer on their big day, Mohlala said: “The dresses were too quiet … Vera Wang is definitely not for black girls. I wanted lots of bling-bling.” The head of the National Consumer Commission tied the knot with businessman Lawrence Mulaudzi at Sun City’s Palace of the Lost City yesterday afternoon at an intimate ceremony with 200 guests, including businessman Sello Rasithaba and his wife, Ouma, who worked with Mohlala when she started out as a young attorney in Pretoria in 1998. Other guests included defence secretary Dr Sam Gulube and his wife, Lillian More. Kim Kardashian has announced that she is filing for divorce from her husband Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage. Is this just another celebrity marriage that looked better on paper and in the media, or was it a great way to grab some media exposure and make a quick buck. Three Vera Wang wedding dresses each purportedly worth $20’000, $400,000 worth of Perrier Jouet champagne, invitations from Lehr & Black estimated at $10,000 and $750,000 (!) for catering for the 500 guests at the reception, $15,000, 10-tiered wedding cake with chocolate-chip icing and black and white decorations made by Hansen’s Bakery were all comped. According to an earlier publication in The New York Post the couple are set to make around $18 million.
